Children’s Mermaid Parties

5 - 14 yrs

Our children’s Mermaid Parties are an amazing way for your child to experience swimming like a mermaid, in a safe and friendly environment, with a fully qualified and experienced mermaid instructor. Enjoy a fun packed hour session of Mermaiding fun!

Children 5 - 7 years and weak/non swimmers of any age will require an adult from your party in the water with the child on a 1 to 1 basis, for your child's safety.

Children 8 – 14 years and a confident swimmer do not require an Adult in the water with them. The child must be 8 or over and be able to swim at least 25m confidently and unaided, and be able to float on their back. Weak or non-swimmers of any age, require an adult from your party in the water with them.

There will be a short swimming assessment for children 8 and over without an adult in the water with them, to check the child's swimming ability. If we feel that the child is not strong enough for mermaiding independently, we will ask an adult from your party to go in the water with the child. Please have adults on standby in case this is the case. Thank you.

Our Mermaid Parties are suitable for all abilities: Beginners, improvers and experienced mermaids. We will teach the children Mermaid skills, swimming strokes and Mermaid safety tips.

A typical Mermaid Party starts with selecting a fin and tail (we have a huge selection), an on-land photo, followed by safety instructions. Children who are 8 or over, and are Mermaiding without an adult, will complete a short swimming assessment (without tail on) before they use their tail and fin. Children will practise how to swim using a dolphin (mermaid) kick. They will then learn different ways of swimming with a tail: on the surface and under the water, using different strokes, turns and log rolls. They will learn to do mermaid skills and tricks, such as somersaults, handstands and tail flips.

It's then time for some exciting mermaid games. These include treasure hunts (retrieving sinkers from the pool floor), relay races, swimming through floating and sinking hoops and in-between 'seaweed'! We will often take underwater videos of each Mermaid swimming through the large hoops. Our mermaids play games in groups, pairs and individually, and it's great fun. Sometimes they will create sequences of skills (a bit like synchronise swimming). The mermaid instructor (myself) teaches from the pool edge, giving technique guidance, encouragement and instruction. Activities are differentiated according to ability and experience. Many children return for our monthly Mermaid Experiences, and each experience builds on new skills learnt previously.

At the end of the Party, there is a ‘free play’ session and photo shoot of the party Mermaid group and birthday child. We can also do individual photos on request (no extra charge). We have large floats, small inflatables, balls and music. Each child is presented with a certificate, and the birthday child will receive a small birthday gift from us.

The cost of the Mermaid Party includes hire of tail and fin for 8 participants, mermaid tuition from a qualified Fit2Fit Mermaid Instructor (myself - Eliza Star-Kelp!), mermaid games, a certificate per child, birthday gift, and photos and videos sent to your WhatsApp/email.
